Delayed planting, selecting disease-resistant varieties, and using lure traps are simple and effective strategies that many gardeners would benefit from. Knowing which insect netting or row cover to use, how and when to cover your crops, are all important considerations to learn about. Join us in this exploration of pest management in gardener-friendly language and using techniques and tools accessible to small scale growers. Flea beetles, leaf miner, Colorado potato beetle, cucumber beetle, and leak moth are some of the pests we will focus on.
This workshop is facilitated by Carolina Lukac, Garden Education Manager with the Vermont Garden Network.
This workshop takes place at the Co-op Victory Garden - a collectively-tended garden where shared access to land and resources, intensive growing techniques, and a mentorship program empower people to grow a lot of food on a small plot of land. A wide variety of vegetables, herbs, flowers, and small fruits are grown by and for co-op members.
Thanks to our season underwriters, City Market and Gardener’s Supply Company, for making events like these possible!
