Board
In 1974, Mark Curran left Boston College and joined the mass migration of twenty-year-olds to Vermont. In 1978 he and a partner opened a natural food store in Ludlow which rapidly morphed into a fruit and produce distribution company with a focus on locally grown. Four decades later, with over 50 trucks and 200 employees, Black River Produce was an integral part of the farm to plate movement. After the acquisition of BRP in 2016 Mark turned his focus to protein production and how regional farms can profitably compete against commodity producers in the meat industry. Mark has been active on other boards including; Vermont Fresh Network, Vermont Ag Development Board, VBSR, Working Lands Enterprise Board and Black River Innovation Campus to name a few. Mark and his wife Margie live in Chester, VT where they raised their 4 sons.
