Join Audubon Vermont, the Pride Center of Vermont, and Outright Vermont for a hike around the Intervale!
LGBTQA+ hikers are gathering in February to explore the trails of Burlington's Intervale. This unique land is located within the city limits of Burlington, Vermont. Our hike will be an easy, flat meandering jaunt that will loop along the banks of the Winooski River, through the farm fields of the Intervale, and in and out of the unique floodplain forest. We'll plan an easy, accessible hike. We will have plenty of options for the length, direction, and difficulty of our adventure. After our hike we'll warm up with beverages in town.
All ages, allies, and families welcome! Youth under 18 years should be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Dogs are welcome as long as they are leashed.
Johnny Chagnon of the Pride Center of Vermont and Gwendolyn Causer of Audubon Vermont will co-lead the hike to provide birding, botany, hiking, and tracking tidbits.
Trail/accessibility information: Our walk will be at an easy pace and will cover less than 2 miles. We are very flexible about the trails we choose based upon the needs of the group. The trails are wide and on a base of sandy soil, but they might be snowy or icy depending upon the recent weather. If you require accommodations or have questions about accessibility, please contact Audubon Vermont at gcauser@audubon.org.
