We’re teaming up with our friends at Old Spokes Home to host The Bike Bloom on May 20th, a celebration of accessible outdoor recreation through affordable bikes and public, free-to-use lands. A fundraising event for both organizations, The Bike Bloom will begin with group rides hosted by Old Spokes Home which will end at the Intervale Center Barn and culminate with a party and bike show.
Register above for one of three group rides:
The Calkins Cruise — A mellow-paced ride of Intervale Road and Ethan Allen trails, exposing some of Burlington's best, most accessible, and closest-to-home dirt-road and mellow-trail bicycling.
The Farm Fly — Slightly faster and farther, the Farm Fly will zip through the Intervale, McKenzie Park, Ethan Allen Homestead trails, and to Ethan Allen Park for a sampling of local dirt.
The Riparian Ride — Focusing on the ecology of the Intervale, this ride will meander along with numerous stops to look at and learn about flora, fauna, and the conservation work being done along the Winooski River.
All of the above will finish at the Intervale Barn, where there will be a party with food and beverages, as well as a bike show! The show, the Bike Bloom Expo, will display bikes belonging to friends of the Intervale Center and Old Spokes Home that are unique, beautiful, rare, or special for one or many reasons. It is a competition, but with a twist: the goal is to raise funds for Old Spokes Home and the Intervale Center, and all in attendance can vote with their dollar for their favorites across three categories and Best in Show. (Interested in showing your bike? Submit it here.)
A donation-based bike photo booth will also be available for fashion shots by the serene and beautiful Intervale pond.
Come have fun and celebrate spring, bikes, and accessible outdoors with the Intervale Center and Old Spokes Home!
Thank you to our sponsors City Market and Gardener’s Supply Company for making Intervale Center events possible!
