What's New at Summervale?
By Hannah Morrison, Summervale Event Coordinator Intern There are many new and exciting additions to this year’s Summervale! This year we will be welcoming three new vendors, lots more parking, an expanded lawn area, and plenty of new musical artists! Much like our past events, Summervale will continue to bring together great local food, music, kids activities and the overall community, all in the name of strengthening community food systems.
New to Summervale this year, Pingala Cafe and Eatery is located at 1 Mill Street in Burlington, Vermont. Focused on creating great, organic food “bursting with color, nourishment, and flavor” they believe that “creating food with an influence of worldly culture and keeping the approach simple is a great way to share some of the best things in life”. Second in our new vendor line-up is Savouré Soda, Jam and Pickle. Savouré likes to call itself a “modern take on traditional pantry classics; small-batch, homemade, distinctive food and drink with flair”. With products such as homemade soda, pickles, chutney, ketchup, pesto, and jams, they are sure to please. Finally, V Smiley Preserves offers preserves of fruit, honey and aromatics. V Smiley was created with a “larger vision in mind that draws together the talents of family and the land in New Haven Vermont”. With delicious treats like spicy hot peach ham, Seville orange coffee and date marmalade, and black raspberry shiro plum and sour cherry jam, I think everyone here will be glad to have V Smiley Preserves at Summervale this year!
This year we have also added a new parking lot with 55 additional spots for Summervale attendees. Although we do encourage walking or biking to Summervale, we understand that driving may be more convenient for many of the Summervale attendees. With parking being very limited around the Intervale Center, we have struggled in the past with having enough space. Luckily this year we are happy to announce we have a new parking lot across from Gardener's Supply. This new parking lotshould really help make parking easier for all involved! We also have an expanded lawn area this year, which will include more tables and chairs for seating and dining.
Lastly, some reminders:
- Summervale will go on, rain or shine! We will have a concert in the barn even if it’s raining. In the event of extreme weather forecast, Summervale may be postponed or canceled - check our Facebook page for the most up-to-date information!
- Please walk, bike or carpool when possible! With secure valet bike parking provided by Local Motion, we’ll have a safeplace to lock and store your bicycle if you choose to bike to the event.
- We also ask that you don’t bring any outside alcohol or pets to the event. Please supervise children and all times. And remember, the Intervale Center is smoke-free.
All of us here at Intervale Center are very excited for Summervale 2016 and hope to see you all down here soon!
Many thanks to our 2016 Summervale sponsors:
