Patagonia Burlington Partnership!
By: Eleanor Lustig, Development Intern
We are grateful here at the Intervale Center to partner with Patagonia through 1% for the Planet. Patagonia is known for their dedication to environmental and social responsibility, and rightfully so. Through 1% for the Planet they have donated over $74 million to grass-roots and community organizations. Rather than give large cuts of their 1% to a few organizations, they choose to give hundreds of organizations smaller grants every year.
This year the Intervale Center received a $5,000 grant from Patagonia to support three community planting projects directed by the Intervale Conservation Nursery in Burlington, Williston, and Stowe. We partnered with Patagonia Burlington to carry out the Burlington project and hosted 20 of their staff to plant hundreds of native trees along the Winooski River in the Intervale and learn about the positive effects of riparian restoration on Vermont’s water quality. Patagonia Burlington made a short film about our new partnership and what they are helping us accomplish in Vermont - check it out here. Thanks again, Patagonia!
