Wintervale returns in February!
Join us on February 23rd from 11am to 2pm at the Intervale for our annual celebration of all things winter, local food, and community. Explore snowy trails on cross-country skis or snowshoes, warm up by the bonfire with s’mores and hot cocoa, and don’t miss our Community Chili Cook-Off! Bring the whole family - there’s something fun for everyone to enjoy!
Wintervale is made possible with the support of volunteers. We are looking for folks to help out with set up and break down, kids crafts activities, parking support, and serving food and drinks. Learn more and sign up here!

Program updates
Five years ago, farmer Marya Merriam started growing, drying, and selling flowers to serve as a low-carbon source of joy in the winter.
In 2023, Wood Frog Flowers transitioned from Marya’s side gig to their main operation where they now sell certified organic dried flower arrangements, holiday balsam wreaths, wholesale potatoes, and more. As Marya’s business expanded, they realized there was a need for bookkeeping support and were referred to the Intervale Center’s Farm Business Services Program.
The Intervale Center’s Farm Business Services program works with between 120-130 farmers across Vermont each year. Read our latest post to learn more about Wood Frog Flowers and our statewide farm viability work.
The Intervale Food Hub has just finished its 2024/2025 growing contract with the Vermonters Feeding Vermonters (VFV) program of the Vermont Foodbank. This marks seven years we have been involved in this unique statewide program in which high-quality, local food, is purchased directly from Vermont farmers and producers to share with people facing hunger in Vermont.
In the 2024/2025 cycle, the VFV contract enabled us to support 4 small farms by purchasing 15,000 lbs. of food which was then delivered to the Vermont Food Bank. From there the food will be distributed through the Foodbank's network of more than 300 community partners and programs, of which the Intervale Center's Food Access program is one, providing fresh food and local food to communities in need.
We are recruiting! Apply today to become our Nursery Operations Assistant AmeriCorps member! You will help propagate and grow tens of thousands of native trees and shrubs for conservation projects statewide and engage volunteers to help grow the conservation movement.
The Intervale Conservation Nursery's Spring 2025 sale is open for orders. Don't miss out! Contact Ben at benr@intervale.org for an updated availability list.
