Cheese & Wine Traders Names Intervale Center Beneficiary of 2016 Garage Sale
Cheese & Wine Traders, a Vermont family-owned specialty food store featuring over 1500 wines, 150+ cheeses, gourmet foods and Vermont-made local products, has announced that the Intervale Center will be the beneficiary of its 2016 Garage Sale. The event will take place from Monday, June 6 to Sunday, June 12. Shoppers can anticipate big discounts of up to 70% on cheeses, wines, gourmet foods and more. Cheese & Wine Traders will match up to $3,000 of customer donations. In 2015, the sale raised $7,000 for the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf.
“We’re more than just a specialty store, because we prioritize our unique ability to create a stronger and happier community,” said co-owner Nicholas Savasta. “It’s important for us to partner with a local charity and help raise funds to give back to the community each year. We strongly care about Vermont’s local food economy and value the Intervale Center’s work sustaining farms, land and people in Vermont and beyond.”
The Intervale Center’s Community Relations Manager, Joyce Cellars, said, “We value Cheese & Wine Traders’ commitment not only to Vermont producers, but also to reducing food waste in our state. We are excited to be the Garage Sale beneficiaries this year! Funds raised will support our work supporting strong lands, healthy water and clean land, and happy people.”
Past Garage Sale beneficiaries have included Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity, Women Helping Battered Women, Vermont Symphony Orchestra, Vermont Respite House, and Visiting Nurses Association.
