Calkins Farmstead Construction

The Calkins Farmstead was home to Burlington’s last working dairy farm. Today, it houses our administrative offices, programs and enterprises and provides a beautiful venue for dozens of public and private events each year. We are investing in the homestead to preserve this physical expression of over 200 years of farming in the Intervale and retool this place to serve our organization and Vermont’s agricultural community for years to come. Check out the progress we’re already making!

Will you help us keep this place vibrant and beautiful for the future by making a gift today?

We’re asking for your help as we make improvements to this special place that provides Vermont’s biggest city with open space, farms, community events and recreation trails. And here’s the exciting news: With the help of people like you, we’ve already raised $971,075 of a $1 million capital campaign to investing in the beauty, productivity and accessibility of the Intervale Center!

Will you help us close this gap by making a gift of $50 today? Your gift will be matched, up to $9,000, by an amazing team of Vermont businesses: Ben & Jerry's FoundationNational Life GroupVermont GasCommunity BankSkinny Pancake and Mascoma Bank.

We are so grateful to have your support and friendship. Thank you!

From the Builder:  “I have enjoyed watching the transformation of the Calkins farmstead over the past fifteen years immensely. My relationship with the Intervale began working on the crumbling brick walls of the farmhouse, with collapsing barns across the farmstead. In just fifteen years, the Intervale Center has gone through all of these structures with careful restoration, and now we are in the middle of the finishing touches, improving the Community Barn and moving and preserving the unique silo.  I couldn’t be happier with the long term relationship that we have built and the restoration that we have been able to take part in.” – Eliot Lothrop, Building Heritage
